More than sticker price
What does MSRP actually mean?
MSRP stands for Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price. Most people know it from car window stickers, but the concept extends far beyond vehicles. It is simply the price a maker suggests a seller charge.
Knowing the suggested price is only the beginning. A vehicle rarely sells exactly at sticker. A standby generator costs thousands more once you add the transfer switch, gas line, and electrician. A roof replacement or bathroom remodel does not have a traditional manufacturer MSRP at all.
MSRPGuide exists to answer the question that sticker prices leave out: What should this actually cost?
Despite our name, we are not just about cars. We research manufacturer pricing, retailer and dealer listings, installation line items, market ranges, labor rates, and real contractor invoices to show the actual total you should expect before you commit your budget.
Methodology
How we research prices
We are not a quote engine and we do not sell leads. Here is how we keep our numbers reliable and honest.
Independent
Brands do not pay to rank higher. Advertising is labeled and never alters a cost range or model placement.
Cited
Every figure traces back to the dealer, retailer, contractor survey, or study where we found it, listed on the page.
Realistic ranges
When prices vary, we show low, typical, and high. We explain what makes a job expensive and what keeps it lean.
Confidence rated
When data is uncertain or regional spread is broad, we say so. We tell you when numbers are solid and when they are soft.
