Electrical Panel Cost Calculator

Four modes, all band-based from the cited dataset: panel replacement by amperage — $800–$1,500 for 100A up to $2,000–$4,000 for 400A installed — plus the breaker-box swap ($500–$1,800), the 100A→200A service upgrade, and the sub-panel ($400–$2,000), each with its honest scope label. The result is a band, not a quote — and where three live publishers agree to the dollar, the calculator says so.

The amperage ladder, the swap-vs-upgrade decision, and the convergence table in context: the full panel replacement guide.

150-amp is not a published tier — no neutral publisher quotes a standalone 150A installed band, so it isn't an option here. A 150A panel typically prices near the 200A row's low end (a recorded note, never a cited figure).

Estimate: $1,300 – $3,000 — from cited national bands, not a quote

200A panel + installation, per project

This Old House and PanelUpgradeGuide agree to the dollar on these tiers; Vetcon (contractor-sourced) matches.

Bands are per-source, never averaged. No 150A tier exists in any cited publisher band. Swap and service-upgrade bands look alike — the labels say which job each is. Get local written quotes before any work.

Line-item context

Licensed electrician rates: $50–$150/hour (contractor-sourced; search-served industry guides consistent at the overlap). Permits and inspection: $50–$300 per project (two sources agree exactly) — jurisdiction-specific.

Scope notes for quotes: replacement vs upgrade wording varies by contractor — the full guide shows the swap-vs-upgrade decision side by side. Lead slot: “Get local quotes” — Electrical is a named lead vertical (Networx/EverConnect; approved partners pending; Angi CJ 7439025 covers the trade). Slot marked, no dead links.

Why a selector is honest here

Panel pricing is amperage-banded — the jobs come in named tiers, not per-square-foot continuums — so a selector that returns the tier's published band is stating exactly what the sources state. What it deliberately does not do: invent a 150A tier (no publisher publishes one — the selector states the absence instead), blend the breaker-box swap with the service upgrade (same band, different jobs — each mode carries its own scope label), or present Vetcon's contractor figures as neutral (they corroborate the tiers and are labeled where they corroborate).

Provenance note, stated because it is unusual: no Fixr guide exists for this category — the first Fixr-less category this engine prices — so the bands rest on This Old House (live, updated 03/31/2026), PanelUpgradeGuide, and the labeled contractor guide. Search-served figures (NerdWallet, HomeAdvisor-derived) are flagged for re-verify and not quoted cold here.
